Ingredients:
- 300g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 200g broccoli florets
- 150g basmati rice
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Skillet or wok
- Pot for rice
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cups and spoons
Instructions:
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, typically using a 1:1.5 rice to water ratio. Set aside when done.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the sliced beef and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Add the water and cover to steam for an additional 2 minutes.
- Return the beef to the skillet with the broccoli, and stir everything together. Drizzle with sesame oil if using, and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over a bed of basmati rice.
